EN 361: Personal protective equipment against Falls from a height
Harnesses intended to hold the user in place & spread the load
in case of a fall arrest scenario. Harnesses are subject to a
performance test, intended to apply a shock load on the harness, EN 361
exceeding that likely to be experienced in use. The test will give
an indication of the behaviour of the harness when used, in
particular the angle at which user will be held in the event of a fall.
EN 358: Personal Protective Equipment for work positioning & prevention of falls from a height
Equipment written to EN 358's specifications is designed either to
FALL PROTECTION from falling. The standard applies to belts and lanyards meant for EN 358
secure the user safely in position or restrain them to prevent them
positioning or restraint. It sets out the requirements for testing,
marking and the information supplied by the manufacturer.
ANSI Z359.1: Safety Requirements for Personal Fall Arrest Systems,
Subsystems and Components
The purpose of the standard was to address t personal fall arrest
systems, subsystems and components for connectors, full body
harnesses, lanyards, energy absorbers, anchorage connectors, ANSI Z359.1
fall arresters, vertical lifelines and self-retracting lanyardsbeing
developed and applied to fall arrest equipment used in General
Industry and non-construction occupations only.
EN 813: Personal fall protection equipment. Sit harnesses
EN 813 specifies requirements, testing, marking and information
to be supplied by the manufacturer for sit harnesses to be used EN 813
in restraint, work positioning and rope access systems, where a
low point of attachment is required.
EN 15025: Protection against Heat and Flame
This test measures the limited spread of flames of vertically
oriented textile fabrics (one or several layers), when subjected to EN 15025
a small defined flame.
