HIGH TEMPERATURE TEXTILES
A range of high quality temperature resistant materials for many applications on the
basis of outstanding technological standards. Textile, insulation and special products on
Protective Textiles for the basis of new technologies have excellent technical properties and constant quality.
Hot Works They are the ideal material in the application of low and high temperatures as well as
acoustic insulation.
The most effective protection against
welding spatter requires the use of
non-combustible materials. Specific
applications and work situations
often require unique choices and
customized products. Only tested and
approved products should be chosen
for maximum security against liability.
Our high temperature textiles include
e-glass, fibreglass, thermoglass or
silica fibres which provide extremely
good protection against heat, welding
spatter and sparks.
High temperature textiles protects
people, property or equipments when
exposed to welding spark, spatter, or
high heat that can result in expensive
damages including fires.
In major refinery shutdown, welding
blankets are used as equipment
covers to protect sensitive tools and
equipment from the potential damage
that can be caused by welding splatter.
Catwalks would be lined with welding
protective blankets to prevent welding
spark and spatter from falling onto
other levels and potentially igniting CRITERIA ON SELECTING HIGH TEMPERATURE TEXTILES
fires where there may be petroleum The following criteria must be considered on choosing the right blankets.
spills or simply keeping the spark from
landing on workers at the lower levels. Level of protection
• Light - minimal spatter, light sparks, general use
• Medium - heavier sparks, spatter, light slag
• Heavy - heavy sparks, spatter, slag
• Extreme Heavy - heavy spatter, slag, possibility of molten metal
Weight and thickness of the material
• Performance of the material depends on many variables. However, as a general rule,
heavier / thicker material will provide better protection and take longer to burn through.
Coated or Uncoated material?
• Coated - has better abrasion resistance, stiffer to allow spatter and slag to roll off easily
• Uncoated - is more pliable, making it easier to drape over and wrap around objects
Is the application vertical or horizontal (Flat)?
• Vertical application - best to use thinner blanket
High Temperature Textiles • Horizontal (Flat) - heavier and / or higher temperature rating must be used
